Electric Escapes, a Westport based company that offers cycling hire and tours on its electric bikes, was part of a seven strong delegation of Irish tourist companies that joined Tourism Ireland at the 2014 Telegraph Outdoor Adventure and Travel Show in London recently. This was the first time that Tourism Ireland had a presence at the four-day event – the largest exhibition in Britain for adventure and outdoors enthusiasts – which attracts some 55,000 visitors each year. It was an ideal opportunity to highlight Mayo and Ireland to those who want to get away from the stress of a busy life and are interested in active experiences and exciting exploration of the countryside.

Mayo businesses contribute some €1.09 million to local charities and community groups

In Mayo in 2012, local businesses donated a total of €1,093,638 in cash and in kind donations to local charities and community groups. Some 990 hours were volunteered by local employees and some 185 community partnerships were supported by 19 companies.
